Ancestors

Although I am using the term ancestor (forebear might be a better word), ancestor in the dictionary refers to "a person, typically one more remote than a grandparent, from whom one is descended".

But for this share, I am referring more specifically to our spirit ancestors, those transcendent & disembodied beings with whom we have a soul affinity & connection.

When a human passes over into the spirit realm, we tend to believe they immediately become part of our lineage & become "ancestors".

Yes & no (again dependant upon verbiage & meaning).

Whether the newly deceased becomes our ancestor depends solely upon what they are BECOMING or TRANSFORMING into, through the process of death.

Just because a human dies, does not mean they remain human in the Spirit world, in the sense that we know or recognise them to be human.

Depending upon a soul's personal orlog/karma, they might cross over only to be reincarnated again into a different human body & bloodline, which removes them as your "ancestor" on a spiritual level.

The deceased can reincarnate into the same family lineage/culture/ethnicity or a totally different culture, time period, gender etc.

In ancient animist cultures, it was understood that depending upon a person's deeds & behaviour during physical life, upon the process of biological death, they might become/transform into the honourable dead.

Also known as the shining ones, the sídhe, faery folk, elves, & protector spirits of sacred power places such as stone circles, burial mounds, groves, springs etc.

Only those of great renown & spiritual maturity would become the honourable dead which also constitutes ascended masters, saints & deities.

As an example, Odin/Wotan has been considered to be an ancestral deity for the Germanic peoples. Once having been a human man who achieved the status of a God (so it is believed).

We all have a spiritual ancestral lineage of guides & teachers who can be deities, elves, faery, honourable dead, your actual deceased relatives, but also ANIMAL spirits.

The curious thing about animal spirit guides is that they could've once been incarnate humans, who upon the process of biological death BECAME (or transformed) into an animal spirit to help those still living.

I personally have experienced this with one of my animal guides, who used to be an incarnate human being & now has become an animal spirit.

Any beings that are our spiritual ancestors or spirit guides, act as messengers & helpers to LIVING humans they have an affinity with.

If you wish to begin working with your spirit ancestors then simply extend the invitation & the ones who are meant for you WILL come forward making themselves known.

Again, it might not be who you want or think (this happened to me MANY times), but it will be a being that will meet you EQUALLY & will actually want to establish a loving/helpful relationship with you.

In the modern pagan/spiritual/new age movement it is usual for people to call upon their "ancestors" without truly understanding WHO their ancestors even are (I've gone through this myself).

So you remain safe, only call upon those that you KNOW/KNEW that are there to help (you should know them by name), ancestors/spirit guides that you have a relationship with.

Perhaps they've made themselves known to you through dreams or meditations.
